(2) the Canon 70-200 2.8 II + Canon Extender EF 2X III Obviously, buying the extender would be a lot cheaper and lighter than carrying around another heavy zoom. The Tamron would give me a little more reach, albeit the reviews say it's quite soft above 500mm.
I'm rating the EF 1.4x III Extender at 4/5 Stars because of the excellence of build and the quality of the images it produces. It's a considerable improvement on the Mk II. I've dropped a star because of the decision by Canon to cripple the AF with some cameras and not others and because the RRP is slightly too high IMO.
