HoMM3 strategy question. Just curious what people’s thoughts are about this…. Do you prefer to focus on quantity or quality of your army first? Do you want to have the ability to build every type of unit before you begin to upgrade them? Vote. 2 comments. Add a Comment. As rampart, you get wood elves DAY 1 and hopefully upgrade them day 2, into grand elves. You do this because with efficient kiting, you can take on most starting zone fights with about 10-15 grand elves. This is called acquiring a powerstack - a stack that wins you fights.
Also the pegasi are very fast, and for this purpose can be split into 3-4 stacks. This gives you the advantage of blocking shooters or baiting npcs to get away from your damage dealing armies. They have heroes with magic resistance, logistics, armorer, and +350 gold. These by themselves can give you superior advantages in the game.
