Like yourself, I think most players will feel the 80 boost is pointless at any price point. Even without tomes or scrolls, leveling in GW2 is easy enough. Link to comment
While most veteran players would consider the boost to be junk (might-as-well-collect if it were free or on 99% discount, but absolutely not 2k gems), an extra lvl 80 char is potentially worth a lot more to a new player (first 3 weeks of hitting lvl 80) than to a seasoned one, specifically for daily harvest limits for ascended trinket
80 lvl booster is suppose to be as reward for those who bought the DLCs. The reason why you can't see it is simple. You just don't deserve to get 80 lvl character just by doing nothing. No but really now. Its just marketing. Anet would get nothing from it if all of free to play players would get lvl 80 immediately. Hey all, I bought gw2 a while ago, came back and realized I needed to buy 2 expansions for the glider & mounts so I promptly did. The game gave me a 80 a boost, I want to use this on a toon so I can do the first quest of each expansion to unlock glider and a mount which I want to use too keep leveling my theif up with a bit of quality of life improvements.
Just click the crossed swords icon in the top left > Enter PvP lobby. In PvP you'll be upleveled to 80 and have all the skills and traits unlocked so you can see what a class is like at max level, and can practice a bit on the golems. It can be a good way to get the feeling of a class without using the boost. 11. Winter_wrath.
I would like to have Elite Specialization Enabled and fully opened for every Character in the TRIAL of the LVL 80 Boost so I know what my Elite Abilities for each character are and what Weapons I can use with them ! I can boost any character I want with Tomb's/Scrolls to 80 anytime I want without the Lvl 80 Boost I got with my Expansion.
3. Wolftail18. •. You get free hero points as you lvl up, and at lvl 80 you can spend all your free hero points from level up rewards to unlock all core skills and trait lines. For more hero points you will need to do hero challenges. Core hero challenges reward you with 1 hero point per challenge. Expansion (HoT , PoF) hero challenges reward So any level 80 exotics you get will be as good as the boost equipment, and if you get it from somewhere else you can choose the stats and save your boost. That's not to say you can't use it, just bear in mind it may not be the best option for you. Some of the easiest ways to get level 80 exotics are to buy them from the Trading Post with gold

So you can buy one Tome of Knowledge for 20 Writ of Experience, why not let us buy 1 Level 80 Boost for 80 Tomes of Knowledge? Obviously without stuff like armor, weapons, buff food etc. Give us absolutely nothing, not even the level-up rewards, I don't care, I'm just so tired of all the clicking.
